I. Goal,
Purpose
The
Pocahontas County Genealogy group was formed in the Spring of 2004. It’s
main objective is to increase the availability of genealogical resources in
Pocahontas County and to share, without cost, information to researchers either
through the Internet or through volunteer look up services
The
McClintic Library in Marlinton has long been associated with genealogy research
in the county and currently houses a large and varied collection of research
information. The decision for the Genealogy Group to be with the McClintic
Library was an easy one. The Pocahontas County Free Libraries was recognize in
the Spring of 2004 with the 2003 National Award for Library Services by the
Institute of Museum and Library Services, based in Washington
D.C.
Working
together, the McClintic Library and the Genealogy Group will help finding
ancestors in Pocahontas County an easier task and more fulfilling
journey.
